Kansas Counselors Inc has performed very well for our company. Collections are never a good thing to have to do, but I found them to be very tactful and polite to all involved. Their success rate in collecting a debt has also been exceptional. I would definitely recommend them to an associate.
I am extremely grateful to Kansas Counselors for helping me straighten out a debt collection while in the middle of a mortgage. I paid off a medical debt thinking it would only help my credit, when in fact I was told it will hurt. This has put a wrench into our mortgage application, and Kansas Counselors has gone above and beyond to help me get the problem straightened out. I believe they do want to help the consumer, and they have proven that to me.
First let me say I work for a company who is rated high for customer service. I have NEVER dealt with customer service like I have with Kansas Counselors. Today I have talked to three different people in their customer service. From the moment they answered the phone I could tell they hated their job (this wasn?t just one employee, every time I called back and got a new person they were just as bitter as the last). They have pour attitudes, and are VERY rude. I was transferred to Kevin (who was assigned to my account), both times I was transferred I got a message saying that line wasn?t excepting calls. I even called back and asked to not be transferred to him, and they did anyway. They should really be ashamed and embarrassed by the rude employees who work in their customer service.
I?m not upset about their calls?I completely understand that I could not pay bills and I understand that when that happens the amount due is sent to collections. I am finally financially stable and I am ready to pay off my debt. It is just so disappointing to call in and get treated so unprofessionally.
Another issue is I have opened accounts on my credit report that I paid off years ago. They are still being marked as unpaid and hurting my credit. When I called in with questions they were able to pull up my account but couldn?t give me any more information unless I had the account number for each ?unpaid balance? they didn?t tell me how to get this number?so here I am ready to give them money for all my debt and all they can do is be rude, cut me off mid sentence, and tell me they can?t look at any of my accounts.
I feel sorry for anyone that has to deal with people that work for this company.

03/23/2011 THE PEOPLE ARE STILL CALL MY TELEPHONE NUNBER AND THINK I AM A GIRL . SINCE I DID NOT ANSWER THE TELEPHONE , THEY THINKI AM A GIRL AND THE PERSON THEY ARE LOOKING FOR . THE STAFF , EVEN THE MANAGER OF THE OFFICE, DO NOT ANSWER THE TELEPHONE CORRECTLY OR PROFESSIONALLY ,THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY GED UNTRAINED TEMPS AND ALL THEY COULD HIRE FOR THE TERRIBLE SALARY . THEY USE COMPUTER CALLING , BUT DO NOT EVEN HAVE A CALLER ID IN THE OFFICE OR ARE NOT TRAINED HOW TO USE IT , THE ONLY THING THEY ARE GOOD AT IS HARRASSING THE WRONG PEOPLE . PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS AND DO NOT CALL BACK OR TALK TO ANY OF SIX OR SEVEN PEOPLE I SAW IN THEIR OFFICE . THEY DID NOT EVEN KNOW WHO I WAS IN FRONT OF THEM, ANY OF THEM !!!!
REPOMEN. Like most people on here I have some medical debt that was sent to KCI. Apparently I went into collections in July and have only received one letter. Last week they called informing me of the debt and I told them I wanted a paper copy and they said we gave you one in July. I said I don't remember that and send me a new one. The guy, John, told me that he was going to have to take further action if I did not pay. I asked him what that meant. He said that he would find out where I worked and they would deduct my pay. He was very careful not to use the word "garnish" because that is illegal for them to threaten, but he definitely implied it. I spoke with someone else yesterday and said I needed a paper copy and she said she would send me one. Then John called me today and I told him what I told the lady and he said he was going to mark me down as refusing to pay. I told him I am not refusing but I want a proper bill. I asked him if someone called you and said you owed them money would you just pay them or do you want proper documentation. He got mad and said he was going to call me everyday until I paid.
Harassing. I was initially contacted by this group for a bill from Liberty Hospital. I had lost my job and was trying to complete school. I answered my phone one day (don't know how they received my cell phone number) and it was an advisor who said please hold I have a call for you. I didn't know who it was so I waited. I spoke to the lady and when she told me what it was for I asked for an invoice, and she said "What you don't remember going to the hospital?" I said not on the date that you are telling me, and she continued to question me. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and she put another hateful woman on the phone. I told her that they were not to contact me unless it was via postal mail and hung up. I have since been getting between 2 to 5 calles a day up until 8:59 at night on some nights. It is really ridiculous and I filed a complaint with the Kansas Attorney Generals Office.
UNPROFESSIONAL AGENCY!!!!!!!!!. This agency is a bunch of B.S. They do not want to work with you, they just want money. When I set up a payment plan with them they told me the only way I can pay them is if I pay them electronically through my bank account. Big mistake I made, DO NOT EVER give them your bank account number like I did. I called to rearrange a date for payment, and the person "Ben" did nothing to help me with the issue, and just wanted to argue on the phone. Sometimes people are a little tight on money and cannot make a payment, but they do not care. I am currently unemployed, have a family and have no source of income right now. They mixed up my bank account number and did not take money out for 2 months and somehow this is my fault. Now they will not work with me on an extension because they did not recieve a payment for those 2 months, so I canceled my payments to them due to the unprofessional service I have recieved. They have put my bank account in the negative with overdraft charges several times taking money out earlier then the date that was arranged. I have an old hospital bill from 2007 that insurance took care of and they keep harassing me about it as well. They say my 2007 bill has not been payed and this is another reason they will not work with me on my payments, they said if I dont make the payment then they consider it a "refusal to pay". I dont know what kind of people they have working for them, but it seems like they are still in elementary school. Do not go through this agency, it will just cause more you headaches, just pay the hospital what you owe and leave these jokers out of it.From the reviews I have read, most people have the same outlook on this company as I do. BAD, UNPROFESSIONAL AGENCY!!!!!!!
Turn the tables.
After reading the reviews, the phone call I had with them earlier makes all the sense in the world. I asked for an invoice, and I bet I'll be hard-pressed to receive one. That's OK... I plan on paying the company I owe directly, rather than these jokesters.
I explained I was unemployed and low on cash at the moment, and the gal asked me "If you're unemployed, then why do you need an invoice?". Nice. Maybe because the party that's helping me out with bills wants a record of how the money being spent? Who are you to ask me that?! Send me the damned invoice so I can go pay it off - and NOT through you!
Best thing to do is send them a certified letter informing them they are to only contact you ________. (Once a month, by phone, by letter, whatever.) When they then break that request, you can file a complaint (which I highly suggest doing, anyway) with the BBB, the FTC, and the KS Att. General.
I also suggest paying the company you owe directly, not these guys. They have a shady habit of taking your money and not paying your debt - see the following reviews.
Report Them. For some reason, this company seems to be the collection agency of choice for many local hospitals. What I don't appreciate is being called at my place of business. This is against the law! They like to think they are above the law. This morning I advised them NOT to call my place of business, if they try again to contact me again, I am filing a complaint with the Attorney General's office. If everyone would file a complaint for all the infractions they commit, that will have the law clamp down on them. There will always be debt collectors as long as we have debt in our lives, but we need to make them follow the law.
