HORRIBLE MGMT-ROACHES***, PEI WEI, HERE WE COME!!! ALL OF US.
Not even sure where to begin with this review-holy toledo.
I have never been treated, or known anyone to be treated so terribly as a patron of an establishment in my life. SOOOOO humiliating, more so for the staff. What happened in "China Star" on 95th and Metcalf in OP KS tonight, was an absolute disgrace and an abomination to all restauranteurs. It all started when the "OWNER" of the "CHINA STAR" yelled at the cook in front of me and other patrons waiting in the buffet line (that wasn't even a line because it wasn't busy in there), because some of the buffet items were low or empty during the middle of a VERY SLOW dinner "rush" (doesn't look like business is too good for them...) We sat in the back "party room" as I had just had surgery and it was my first outting and my friend was on call and had just gotten off of a 13 hour work day at her hospital, she is a doctor there. We were obviously looking for peace and quiet. We sat and talked in between her answering pages and my helping our kids. Well during our meal, I see a huge ROACH....YESSSS ROACH, right above our table, I hurry to get the "OWNER" and she comes, grabs MY SURGICAL NAPKIN off of our table and KILLS THE ROACH in front of us and our children. She then argues with us, grabs the check, says "I GIVE YOU FREE MEALS" so we leave. No hospitality whatsoever. Trash all the way around.
Soooo...The "OWNER" Steckelberg, Calls the POLICE after grabbing the check off of our table and telling us it's free-how DISHONEST of this "GODLY WOMAN". This "OWNER" attends "THE CHURCH OF RESURECTION" in Leawood. She claims to be a GODLY human, what she did to us, how she treated us in front of or children, put our parenting skills down in front of our kids-all over $40 check, that as a professional business owner she should have torn up, was completely unacceptable to say the LEAST. I wouldn't want a liar, crooked business owner, fake, fraud, money hungry "WOMAN" as a part of my religious organization, that's for sure. She screamed and yelled, interrupted our private conversations, was highly defensive, she's CRAZY. Her daughter was supposed to sketch a drawing for me, i arranged the entire thing, her daughter never followed through, SO HER DAUGHTER'S A LIAR LIKE HER MOTHER. Her daughter, Sophie, was screaming at us as well tonight at "CHINA STAR" along with her "Mother".
Long time customers....GONE FOREVER. Nothing is worth being treating like this. Will everyone know about this incident (plus the others I've observed) via social media network and word of mouth? YES INDEED. Will "CHINA STAR" lose a TON of business? DAMN STRAIGHT. Will the health dept be called first thing in the am? YESSSSSSS. Will the whole hospital campus and Sprint campus know about this? Ohhhhh YEA.
For my 11 year old daughter to get into the truck and say, "WOW, all of that for $40, they must be desperate for money" I said, yes sweetheart, apparently they are" Again, I just had surgery, my writings are not so good, but you get the point. "CHINA STAR" will be out of business soon. Roach infested and horrible food and MANAGEMENT. ZERO STARS-hate to even rate it that. I believe the owner's name is "CATHY STECKELBERG" That devil woman has demolished someone's last name and lives. Poor family.…
Phenominal, Wonderful, Outstanding Everything.. I've been going to China Star for years. Yes you might have one bad experience (i've only had one and it wasn't a big deal) but I still go back. Why? The food is wonderful, the service is wonderful. The food has quality. It's never been frozen. Everything is literally fresh. Go during a busy hour though. You honestly can't expect a buffet to have fresh food a 8:45pm if they close around 9:30. Especially if there's only 3 tables in the entire place. BUT IF ITS NOT FRESH, ask your waitress to bring what you want out fresh. You don't just have to sit around waiting...it really is a good restaraunt. No doubt about it.…
Best Chinese.. I live in Mission Hills, KS. I have absolutely no problem spending $100 dollars on a meal. (I'm not saying this to brag) but I've been to a lot of Chinese and Japanese and even Korean places before and I have to say this is the best Chinese food I've ever been to. It's easy to get to, the food is fresh (if you go at a normal time. 6-730pm for dinner) and the service is good. You only pay $9.22 including tax and you have 48main entree dishes to choose from not including the wonderful ice cream, desert bar and salad/fruit bar. I've been going to both China Stars for years and I have to say I love the one is Overland Park more than I love the one in Olathe. This is a family run business and if you go there often and get to know everyone, you can being to feel as if you are family. Don't kid yourself and go to some cheap Chinese place just to save a little extra cash (my kids do that) just spend an extra $5 and get a lot more out of your meal.…
Awesome Buffet. Parking is great, hardly any waiting, buffet is always full and fresh. If you'd like a different version of anything that is on the buffet they will make it for you. We've been going for years and have yet to be disappointed.…
Limited food choices and very bad manager.
We went to this restaurant in a large group of 30+ people. We called to reserve the table one day ahead of time. When we arrived and was about to pick food from the buffet table, we felt there wasn't
many choices and wasn't much food left in each food container. In fact, there were quite a few empty dishes. When finally some very small shrimps were brought in, they were just too few of them that not even the bottom of the container was covered. Only two of us were lucky enough to get a few pieces and there was no more. In fact , the small shrimps were the only sea-food for that evening. Many of us were waiting for some re-fills of the empty food containers but it didn't happen. Anyway, none of us was happy about the dinner experience in that restaurant.
What was worse is when we called to speak to the manager about the dinner experience the second day, she was instantly mad about our complaint and refused to listen. She didn't tell us who she was and what her name was and she was talking in an very rude way and hung up in the middle of our conversation. She is the rudest manager we've ever talked to!! With her in charge, it's not hard to imagine what eaters could experience in that restaurant!
Please be advised not to eat in China Star Super Buffet if you could help it, or you'll feel extremely disappointed!!…
