Lulu's is draped in plants, adorned with Buddas and home to a small pond with a school of goldfish. If you take a few steps through the door, you might forget you are in Missouri--and that's the aim. The curry ranges in temperature from mild to "buyer beware." Most dishes can be made with tofu, and are never left wanting for more veggies. The portions are ample, but not on your wallet.

I got there about 45mins before they closed and the server Crystal could not have been less attentive. Even the couple that walked in after me had to ask for water and their bill. I was excited to try this place out. On a good friend's recommendation I ordered the Blazon Wok Bowl w/beef. I thought by ordering it "Med Hot" it would be somewhere between mild and hot…med hot. My food came out promptly which made up for the wait to place my order. When I saw the steaming hot bowl heavily decorated with dark green jalapeno slices I thought, oh! These are the kind of peppers that aren't hot. I was wrong. After blowing my nose incessantly at the table, (I actually had to go to the bathroom twice to wash my hands), sweating, and my lips feeling like they were "blazing," I realized I couldn't taste anything I was eating. I am Hispanic so I can take a little lot, but I counted 20, yes 20 slices were in this lunch bowl!!! I like hot, but damn! Not that hot. Just to be sure I asked Crystal...hey Crystal....hey, over here Crystal, for the menu, just to see if I had somehow missed the recommendation of ordering this dish with a fire extinguisher...nope, not there. If you need a good detox, hurry, get to LuLu's!!

I travel a lof for business and I spent 10 years on the West Coast where you find lots of authentic Thai, not the 'americanized' stuff you find in many Chinese restaurants, etc. My friends took me here during a visit when i was in KC on biz; the flavors were amazing to me! Never had I expected to find decent Thai food anywhere in the Midwest. Next time back in town, I made sure I went to Lulu's again and had the same wonderful experience. If only there was a way for them to expand the menu. (sigh) The food is terrific, the service is fast AND friendly - awesome, eclectic and FUN staff - and the atmosphere lends itself to a good time. I am moving to KC in August and I think this will be the place I ask a few friends to take me for my "Welcome to KC" dinner! I love this place and plan on being a regular!
Pros: Great atmosphere, fun staff, great food/value
Cons: parking can be tight, so carpool!
