The Scene – Is Lindsay Shannon's passion blues, beer or barbecue? He couldn't decide, so he combined all three at his authentic roadhouse. Lunchtime brings corporate types and construction crews cheek-to-jowl. Well-worn checkered oilcloths on the tables and disposable plates only add to the homey grittiness. Live music runs Thursday through Sunday nights, usually around 9pm, but the crowd bellies up to the bar much earlier. – – The Food – Slather those ribs and burnt ends with sauce and dig in. Blues, Beer, BBQ.. Heaven
by KCRacing
I go in this place Bi-weekly, I am in the area at dinnertime and don't make it home for Din-Din so I stop off here.
I get there fairly early and once your food is ordered and promptly served with great portions and like I love it Dry. I put on the sauce on the side and enjoy, drinking my tea. and OH no more tea.... Dudes I'm dyin' out in the dining room and I would appreciate a refill once in a while. I do understand that they are busy preppin' for Thursday Blues and all, Will it prevent me from returning.... UH NO! great food, Hot fresh and Great sausage, Good Grief I gotta go there now.
- Pros: Great servings, Great food
- Cons: Service could be a tad more attentive
A Must Stop for Blues Fans
by MonCherieInKC
You must absolutely go here if you are a fan of the blues. On weekends or days before the live music starts you can listen to the all-blues jukebox which contains classics as well as many well-loved local bands.
The barbecue is great, but also try the Louisiana dishes and my favorite is the mixture of all three.
Pulled Porker and Beer Battered Fries are on the top of my list.
Great folks, always live music, always fun to meet new people at some of the long picnic-style tables. Or you can sit at a booth if you prefer, and get there early enough.
For 9pm bands (the norm) arrive at 7:30 to eat and get a good spot.
Very classy dive.
- Pros: Great value, great live music always
- Cons: You'll have to go out of your way but if you are a true blues fanatic, it's worth the trip.
